Art brings differentworlds into view.

Art is central to how AIR explores culture, experience and the world we share. The same work can be understood differently across histories and individual lives. We bring people together to look closely, respond to one another and reconsider familiar assumptions.

Each programme grows from a question worth pursuing. With a particular interest in contemporary art in Asia, AIR works with artists, curators, researchers, writers and cultural organisations across different contexts. We do not ask everyone to arrive at the same view: shared interests and differences can both lead to new ideas and collaborations.

Research gives this work depth. It means spending time with the histories and contexts around a subject and listening to people with relevant knowledge. We respect each contributor’s independence and keep the inquiry open to where their work and ideas may lead.

AIR was founded by Jenny Lin. Growing up between China and the United States shaped her interest in how people can understand the same world differently, and in what can become possible when those perspectives meet. She sets AIR’s programme direction and develops its collaborations.
